As a multimedia artist I use photography and filmmaking as a gateway to telling nuanced stories about everyday life. I center Black people and the places we call home in my work because I believe there’s an endless capacity for storytelling about the nuance and diversity of our lives.
Archival research and oral history collection heavily inform my documentary practice because through all the longstanding oppressions we continue to live through as Black people America, but we’ve also inherited so many lessons from our ancestors. I do this work because I believe if we can draw a link between the past and the present, we can pave the way for a better future.
