NANCY GALM OBITUARY

Nancy W. Galm passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 24, 2023. A former long-term resident of Greensburg, she lived the past 30 years in O'Hara Township near Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Tolan Galm; her parents, Harry and Marion (Carnahan) Webber; and her sister, Marian Webber. She is remembered fondly by her children, Nancy (Gary) Duryea, Donna Galm (Rich Genszler) and Randy (Ann) Galm; her grandchildren, Emily (Ben) Mather, David (Jessica) Duryea, Brian Galm and Steven Galm; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jamison Mather and Carter and Riley Duryea; and her bonus family, Kristin, Colton, Aislyn and Triston Jenkins. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Merchantville, N.J., Nancy went to business school following high school and started her working career in the banking industry. After marrying and raising her family, Nancy attended Seton Hill College while her children were in school, earning a degree in French education, but she realized that teaching was not for her. Widowed for nearly 30 years, Nancy was strong, independent, resilient, artistic and kind.

A multitalented, creative woman, she was an excellent seamstress, cook and craftsman, but the talent she was most proud of was her painting skill. Nancy was a self-taught artist of both local and national renown. Her works, primarily watercolors of landscapes and still lifes, earned acclaim in exhibitions both in the Pittsburgh area and around the country. She was a lifelong member of the Greensburg Art Club and a signature member of several professional societies including the Pittsburgh, American and National Watercolor Societies, Knickerbocker Artists NY, Audubon Artists, Midwest Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Pittsburgh Society of Artists and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh.

Her works have been exhibited at area festivals like Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Arts Festival as well as in juried exhibits across the country. A lover of opera, old movies, red wine and dark chocolate, Nancy's greatest love was spending time with her family, who will miss her deeply and are blessed to have many memories to reflect upon.

Funeral arrangements are private. Arrangements are being handled by KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, Greensburg.
