Timothy Eoin Kelley
Obituary
Timothy Eoin Kelley, 59, died unexpectedly Friday December 15, 2023 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born on April 3, 1964, to Thomas and Sarah Maureen (Baird) Kelley in New Britain, Connecticut. He grew up in Greensburg, Pennsylvania , attending Blessed Sacrament Cathedral school, Greensburg Salem Junior and Senior High schools, and Latrobe High School, finally graduating from Lenape Regional High School in Stanhope, New Jersey. He earned an Associate of Art degree in Industrial Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Timothy was devoted to his son, Teague, and loved nothing more than spending time with him. They loved hiking around Allegheny Cemetery, visiting deer, feeding squirrels and wild rabbits by hand, and enjoying the wonders of the outdoor wilderness in the middle of the city. Timothy exposed Teague to art and artists, live music, gardening, cooking, and international foods anytime he could.
After his son, his second love was to passionately make art. Timothy created art from anything; found-objects, like barbed wire, crystals, antique wood, and molds, were used to create vividly personal sculptures. He painted on anything from stretched canvas, board, paper, or walls, from small scale to enormous murals for local businesses. Timothy was also a skilled carpenter whose talents for restoration and renovation were in demand. He collected artifacts from other artists and found treasure on nearly every walk he took in the woods, his eagle eye detecting a vintage bottle or an arrowhead to be dug out of the soil.
Timothy never met a stranger and considered all of his friends to be family. He was an active member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, and exhibited his work frequently. He had a close-knit community of local artists with whom he socialized and worked.
Besides his beloved son, Teague, of Weirton, WV, Timothy is survived by his parents: his father, Thomas, and stepmother, Anita Kelley, of Columbia, SC; his mother, Sarah Maureen Baird of Columbia, SC; his sister, Greer Kelley and her husband Alain Angelac, of Columbia, SC; his brother, Blaise Kelley, of Fayetteville, NC; his half-brother, Adrian Newhouse and his wife, Pamela, of Marysville, Ohio; his paternal uncle and aunt, Michael and Linda Kelley; eight nieces, several great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Timothy was predeceased by his brother, Brendan Jon Kelley, formerly of Greensburg, and both of his maternal and paternal grandparents: Catherine E. and Harold B. Baird formerly of Greensburg, Lulu Mae and William F. Kelley formerly of Natrona Heights, as well as his Baird uncles.
Arrangements are with Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC of Latrobe. Services and interment taking place at Saint Vincent Cemetery Mausoleum will be private.
