Kathleen Kase Burk
Kathleen Kase Burk, 69, passed on Friday October 9th at her home in Ebensburg, PA
Kathy was an artist and life member of AAP, known primarily for her pencil drawings. She exhibited for over forty one years in juried, invitational, and gallery shows including several solo and small group exhibitions. Her work is in the collections of more than a dozen government, corporate, university and museum collections and numerous private collections.

Although she never planned to be a teacher, Kathy was selected to teach drawing at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts from 1987 to 1990. She then taught art at Bishop Carroll High School from 1991 until her retirement in 2009. During her tenure at Bishop Carroll, she served as a mentor to many of her students who remained close to her for the rest of her life. Her former students have established a scholarship for aspiring art students in her name.
Kathy was born in Washington DC, the daughter of William and Edna Kase. Her father was in the Air Force and her family was transferred multiple times during her childhood. Kathy attended schools in France, South Carolina, Harrisburg, and finally in Reading, PA. Kathy attended IUP and graduated with a degree in English. She later received a MA in Art from IUP where she began exhibiting her work and entering shows.
She is survived by her husband Mike and her sister Peggy Rennolds of Stuarts Draft, VA.
