Call for Instructors - Contemporary Craft (Due Apr. 1)

Call for Instructors - Contemporary Craft
Deadline: April 1st, 2025

Contemporary Craft is expanding!  On Tuesday, February 4, we closed on the former Hunter Saw building directly across the street from our current location.  This expansion doubles the organization’s square footage, offering an additional 13,000 square feet, which will enable us to build out our fibers and metals programs, reintroduce a woodworking studio, and build-out a new blacksmithing studio.

In light of this expansion we are looking to grow our roster of teaching artists.  We are primarily looking for instructors from the greater Western PA area to teach one-day weekend classes, or evening weekday series classes (typically 4-8 weeks long) who work in the traditional craft mediums of metals, fibers, and wood, and are specifically interested in the following:

Fibers

  • Quilting

  • Embroidery/needlework

  • Knitting and crochet

  • Weaving

  • Felting

  • Dyeing

  • Papermaking

  • Basketry

  • Broom making

Metals

  • Blacksmithing

  • Wax carving/Casting

  • Stone setting

  • Metal fabricating

  • Hammer forming techniques

  • Enameling

Wood

  • Wood turning

  • Wood carving

  • Small scale furniture building

CC staff will be in touch with any additional questions and to request specific workshop proposals as they meet our current needs.
