Contemporary Portraiture - Pittsburgh Seen (Due Mar. 17)

Contemporary Portraiture - Pittsburgh Seen
Deadline: March 17th, 2025

How has the image of self, or portraiture changed over the past fifty, hundred years? Or has it?  How are artists using new techniques/technology to develop and manipulate how we see one another, and ourselves? How has identity developed/changed (in terms of portraiture).  Has the selfie replaced/added/changed how we look at portraiture? Or has it given us permission to explore our idiosyncratic self.

Pittsburgh Seen is currently accepting submissions that explore Contemporary Portraiture in all its many facets. All disciplines welcomed.

We are a multi-platform online gallery supporting/promoting early to mid-career artists via thematic exhibitions.

Exhibiting artists are featured/promoted via website, social media, and pop-up exhibitions worldwide and have the opportunity for studio visits via Zoom from Pittsburgh Seen and its curators. All artists must be over 21 years of age and not currently enrolled in an undergraduate program to exhibit.

Curated is Dr. Isaac King who received his PhD in art history from the University of Pittsburgh and a matching MA from the University of Arizona.

To Apply Fee $28

The exhibition will be held in our new (developing) virtual gallery.
