New member screening

Membership into the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh can be obtained through a juried process.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and live or maintain a studio within a 150-mile radius of Pittsburgh. The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh holds new member screenings once a year.


2019 new member screening

The application process is an online-only submission process.

Applicants can apply online starting March 1, 2019. The application portal will go live at midnight on March 1st. The application portal will remain open until 11:59pm on March 17, 2019.

Artists submit

  • 3-5 works of art (5MB per image; max 1280 x 1280 x 72 ppi)

    • Note: all work submitted should be available for the 2019 New Member Exhibition should artist be selected by jury for membership.

  • Artist statement

  • Resume/C.V./Bio

  • Website (optional)

Application costs $25.


2019 Selection panel

The 2019 panel consists of six jurors from Transmitter Gallery located in Brooklyn, NYC. Transmitter  is a collaborative curatorial initiative based out of Brooklyn New York, focusing on programming that is multidisciplinary, international and experimental.  The Gallery was founded in 2014 by Rob de Oude, Carl Gunhouse, Sara Jones, Rod Malin, Tom Marquet and Mel Prest. In 2015 Jen Hitchings joined the curatorial team. In 2017 Kate Greenberg and Kirk Stoller joined the curatorial team.


2019 New Member Exhibition

The 2019 New Member Exhibition will be held at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. The exhibition will open on Saturday, May 11, 2019 with a public opening reception. The show will run until June 30, 2019.
