Madeline L. Gent, Executive Director

A native of Franklin, Pennsylvania, Gent was named the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh in December 2017. She earned her B.A. in Art History and East Asian Langauges and Literature from Washington and Lee University and her M.A. in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Art History and Archaeology and specializes in twentieth-century Chinese art. Gent has held positions at the Smithsonian's Freer|Sackler Museums of Asian Art, University of Maryland Art Gallery, Michelle Smith Collaboratory for Visual Culture, Washington and Lee University, and the Reeves Center for the Study and Display of Chinese Export Porcelain. In addition to her museum and gallery credentials, Gent has presented her research nationally. She has also taught at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
